BarcelonaThe Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, decided to call early elections for November 29th after the votes of Junts, the PP, and Vox in Congress defeated the housing decree laws approved by the Council of Ministers. Thus, citizens are called to the polls on the last Sunday of November. What can you do to find out where you have to go to vote in the general elections?

Although it is not mandatory to bring the census card to cast your ballot, there are two very quick ways to find out where you have to vote to save yourself from wandering around the polling stations in your city in case you have lost your census card or, directly, have not received it.

How to find out where to vote online

To find out where to vote online, you must consult the website of the National Statistics Institute (INE). You do not need to have the electronic DNI or the digital certificate at hand to consult the polling station and the table where you have to vote. You must fill out the form with the province, the municipality, the street, the house number, and the postal code, as well as the first letter of your first surname. Next, you must click on "search" and then select one of the addresses that the page provides as a result based on the information entered. Then, the page will specify the table, the premises, and the address. If preferred, it can also be done through the Cl@ve portal and with electronic identification.

Call by phone to find out where to vote

You can also choose to get information through the provincial delegation of the Electoral Census Office by calling the toll-free number 900 343 232, or even by going there in person. Telephone hours are Monday to Friday, excluding holidays, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Once it is clear where to go to vote, it is advisable not to forget the necessary documentation: the national identity document (DNI), or the passport with a photograph, or the driving license. On election day, the hours are from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
