Rosalia apologizes for her words about Picasso: "I was not aware that there were real cases of mistreatment"
The artist acknowledges his mistake after stating in an interview that it did not bother him "to differentiate the artist from the work"
BarcelonaSinger Rosalia has retracted her opinion on Pablo Picasso in recent hours, which she expressed in an interview with Argentine writer Mariana Enríquez organized by Spotify. In the conversation, the two artists debated Picasso and Rosalía said: "I really like Picasso and I've never bothered to differentiate the artist from the work. Maybe I wouldn't have liked him as much for the things I've been told, but who knows, maybe I would have. I don't know and I don't care, I enjoy his work".
These words have led numerous social media users to criticize her, reminding her that Picasso used physical and psychological violence against some women around him. Faced with this, Rosalía has issued a statement in which she rectifies her opinion on the painter. "I am not at peace with what I said about Picasso. It is true that I have made a mistake, you are right. Thank you for telling me. It is important not to talk about certain topics when you do not have all the knowledge", stated the singer.
"It is important, perhaps, not to talk about topics when one does not have enough knowledge. Because really I, personally, thought that Picasso, well, that he was a great man, as you have said typically, you know, that you have heard about him, but I was not aware that there were real cases of mistreatment", stressed the artist, who added: "I want to apologize if there was a lack of sensitivity on my part during this conversation with Mariana, and this lack of absolute empathy with these women and these testimonies".
