Anthony Hopkins addresses his poor relationship with his daughter: "If she wants to stay bitter, go ahead."

One of the major themes he also addresses is his lack of relationship with his daughter Abigail, 57 years old and born from his marriage to Petronella Barker, his first wife.

Abigail Hopkins was a child when her parents divorced in 1972. The actor has been married twice more: in 1973 to Jennifer Lynton, whom he divorced in 2002, and in 2002 to his current wife. During the 90s, father and daughter reconnected and Abigail even appeared in two of Hopkins' best-known films, What remains of the day and Shadow floors. However, since then the relationship has deteriorated to the point that they are currently out of contact. In an interview in New York Times On the occasion of the publication of his memoirs, the actor says he has turned the page on this matter. "My wife, Stella, sent him an invitation to come see us. When asked if he thinks his daughter will read the book, Anthony Hopkins says he prefers not to answer, although he adds that he doesn't care whether or not she is interested in his memoirs.
