The human tower season continues to advance with a firm step and the second weekend of June has left a new demonstration of solidity from the main groups in the country. With Sant Joan just around the corner, the squares are beginning to regularly see nine-story towers and the first major performances of the season. The main focus fell on Saturday on El Pati, in Valls, while on Sunday Girona completed a very high-level weekend throughout the territory.

Five 9-story towers in El Pati

Saturday's great performance took place in Valls. La Colla Joves Xiquets de Valls unloaded the 3d9f and the 4d9f before rounding off the day with the tower of 8 with folre, and they completed the first full jump to the basic nine gama of this 2026. A performance that consolidates their state of form and places them with guarantees for Sant Joan. Those who also left the event very strengthened were the Castellers de Sants. The borinots completed the 4d9f and the 3d9f in the same performance, accompanied by the tower of 8 with folre, in one of their most complete exhibitions of the season. Those in the grey shirt continue to consolidate themselves as one of the most solid groups in this first part of the course. Finally, Minyons de Terrassa added a new 3d9f, accompanied by the 7d8 and the tower of 8 with folre, while Moixiganguers d'Igualada once again showed a good level with the tower of 8 with folre, the 7de8 –after a previous dismantled attempt– and the 3de8. Castellers de Barcelona, for their part, completed the 7de8, the 3de8 and the 4de8 without complications. In total, El Pati saw five nine-story castles, and became the most outstanding square on Saturday.

The Borinots also unloaded the first 4d9f of the season.

The Xiquets perform the first classic of the year and the Jove de Sitges unloads its first big cart

In Tarragona, the 1885 festival had a more contained profile. La Colla Vella dels Xiquets de Valls opted for a consolidating performance with the 5d8, the 7d8, and the 4d8, reserving the nine-level castles for later commitments. Els Xiquets de Tarragona maintained regularity with the 3d8 and the 4d8 and debuted a good 2d7, the first of the season. For their part, La Colla Jove de Castellers de Sitges was responsible for one of the day's news by completing the season's first 4d8, a milestone that confirms their growth.

First performances of 8-level castells in Vilanova

The Grallada of Vilanova i la Geltrú also left several notable premieres. Els Bordegassos de Vilanova unloaded the first castles of eight of the year with the 3d8 and the 4d8. They were accompanied by the 7d7. Alongside them, Castellers de Castelldefels matched their best day in history and completed the 5d7, the 4d8, and the 2d7. They were accompanied by the 5d7 and the 2d7. Els Nens del Vendrell, after an initial dismantled attempt, also ended up completing the carro gros as well as the 7d7 and the 5d7.

Marrecs, Jove i Verds leave Plaça del Vi happy

Sunday's event shifted the spotlight to Plaça del Vi in Girona, the venue for the thirtieth anniversary of the Marrecs de Salt. The host group delivered a very solid performance with the 4d8, the 3d8, and the fourth 7d8 in their history, confirming the good form of the Girona team.

Alongside them, the Castellers de Vilafranca once again showcased their dominance in the most difficult structures. They repeated the same performance as last week in El Vendrell. In the first round, they completed the 3d9f without problems. In the second round, the green-shirted team again completed the 4d9fa. A four, it's true, better than last week's in the capital of Baix Penedès. They concluded the performance with the 4d9f and a new pd8fm, adding two more extra-level structures to their history.

Those who also left the square satisfied were the Jove de Tarragona. The lilac team achieved the earliest magic triplet in their history and also the one furthest from home. The Tarragona team opened the square with the 3d9f, their third of the season. In the second round, they completed the second 4d9f of the season and, finally, they closed the castle round with a new 5d8. The big novelty arrived in the pillar round: the Cós del Bou team completed the pd6. It wasn't just any pillar, as it presented a change looking towards the future. Chlöe debuted as acotxadora instead of Asha, who has usually held this position for three years. The team is now working and has its sights set on Sant Joan and, if all goes well, could debut the manilles.
