Our house, the new sitcom by Dani de la Orden, which for months has been announced as one of the main and most promising premieres of the season, has begun to be broadcast exclusively on the 3Cat platform. On TV3 they only gave us the tasting of the making of after the Evening news only to then cast a shadow over an irrelevant French film. This strategy can be understood as an operation to encourage the use of a (supposedly very successful) platform or, on the other hand, as a certain lack of confidence in the production.

Our house scrupulously follows the traditional characteristics of the sitcoms: chapters of something like twenty minutes, set decorations that combine the domestic element with a second meeting place (usually a bar or similar), self-contained plots on an underlying argument that has continuity, stereotypical and flat protagonists, theatricality and a certain histrionics in the performances, conflicts and the sound of laughter that, theoretically, should come from the audience present on the set.

Our house It is a substitute for Dirty dishes in which even the initial mask could be considered a tribute to the sitcom The most legendary of the series. An Eixample apartment shared by two boys, Miqui and Èric, will be invaded by a series of familiar characters, both to live with and to participate in the many conflicts that arise. These immature characters will also be found at Pilar's bar. sitcom, in addition, it takes elements from other productions of the same genre and it is easy to detect ingredients of Friends and of The Big Bang Theory. From the play of doors and the circulation of characters between two floors located opposite each other to decorative objects and the incorporation of a subtle neurodiversity, with high abilities and difficulties in socializing, of one of the protagonists. The inevitable and logical reference of Dirty dishesHowever, it clearly works against it: Joel Joan's 1999 series is much more modern than the new production and, of course, more free-spirited and genuine. The characters in that one were more torn because they were all, without exception, a group of idiots, allowing for more extreme conflicts, while this one suffers from a realism that softens the story. It wants to be more endearing than good. On the other hand, in terms of direction and acting, it falls short. Our house, the actors seem to wait for their turn to speak and the scenes are too static. It lacks madness. But the worst of all is that the sitcom It's more of a situation than a comedy. The plots are scary and overly conventional, but it's the dialogue that really sinks it. The big problem with Our house It just doesn't make us laugh, no matter how much the supposed laughter of a very devoted audience tells us what should make us laugh.
