BarcelonaWithout invitation or queues. Fashion enthusiasts will be able to follow some of the 080 Barcelona Fashion shows from the street, which opens today, with what will be one of the novelties of an edition that aims to claim fashion beyond the catwalk. Thus, within the framework of PLEC, an initiative of the Barcelona City Council, the fashion shows can be enjoyed from various points in Barcelona through a large screen that will be installed each day in a different area of the city. Today it will be the turn of Plaça de Can Fabra in Sant Andreu, Wednesday at Plaça de les Glòries, Thursday at Plaça del Mar in Barceloneta, and Friday in front of the Born Market. "The goal is to bring fashion closer to the citizens," highlights Nàdia Quevedo, commissioner of Economic Promotion, Commerce, Catering, and Fashion Plan of the Barcelona city council. On October 21 and 22, the Port Vell sheds will host a program with talks, musical performances, and artistic proposals such as an installation dedicated to the editorial archive of creative director Luis Venegas.
International brands and second-hand clothing
Regarding the 080 Barcelona Fashion lineup, as usual, it combines established names such as Custo Barcelona, Escorpion, Guillermina Baeza, or Dominnico, emerging proposals, and the presence of international firms like Louis Gabriel Nouchi. The Frenchman will make his debut on Thursday on the Catalan catwalk after showcasing at Paris Fashion Week. New additions also include Antonio Acuario, Crypta, Pat Equilux, or Surkana, the Barcelona-based brand born more than twenty years ago.
A total of 25 firms will parade through Marina Vela - Port Vell until Friday. In this way, the commitment to this space, which hosted the Catalan catwalk for the first time in the spring edition, is consolidated. Added to this program is the fifth edition of 080 Reborn, the stylistic proposal by Fermin Serret and Gilles Saint Martin featuring clothing from second-hand stores and textile waste sorting plants, which will be in charge of kicking off four days of fashion shows. "080 Barcelona Fashion is experiencing one of its most attractive and international moments," assured Moisés Rodríguez, director of the Consortium of Commerce, Crafts and Fashion, during the presentation of the edition.
Beyond the PLEC festival, 080 will feature other activities beyond the catwalk. Craftsmanship plays a prominent role with the second edition of the 080_BeyondCrafts, organized in collaboration with Artesania Catalunya, an exhibition that explores the universe of footwear with firms like Castañer or Norman Vilalta. Two other attractions will be the space dubbed 080Spot_SpainGallery, where workshops and talks about the sector will be held, and the TexMeeting by Texfor 2026, a conference on how artificial intelligence can transform the sector, which will be held on October 21 at the Mirador building.
