BarcelonaA new wave of bomb alerts has affected at least 15 planes flying routes in Europe this Thursday. Some have had to make emergency landings at airports in countries that were not their final destination. This is the case for a plane traveling from Dublin to Rome, which had to land at the French airbase of Évreux, about one hundred kilometers east of Paris, after receiving the alert while flying over French airspace. According to the French Prime Minister's office, a bomb disposal unit was dispatched, and the passengers and crew were moved to a safe location.

On the other hand, three Ryanair planes heading to Bulgaria also received threats while in flight, although authorities have confirmed that no explosive devices were found. Two of them, which had departed from Madrid and Copenhagen, landed in Sofia on schedule but were diverted to remote areas, where passengers were evacuated and luggage and the aircraft were inspected. The other was a flight from London, which was diverted to Plovdiv Airport, about 120 kilometers from the capital.

In the Czech Republic, four planes heading to Prague also received bomb threats, according to police on X, where they added that the threat level assessment was low. They later confirmed that they were indeed false alarms.

Additionally, there was an alert on a Finnair aircraft flying the Helsinki-Rome route, which was escorted to Fiumicino Airport, in the Italian capital, by Italian air force jets. An airline spokesperson confirmed that the plane received a bomb threat, but that it landed normally at its destination. Also in Italy, two planes bound for Milan received threats; one from Aegean Airlines coming from Thessaloniki and one from Ryanair that had departed from Porto.

A plane from the Polish company LOT covering the Warsaw-Brussels route landed safely at the Belgian capital's airport after a security threat that was not detailed. Finally, Romanian authorities reported a bomb alert on a WizzAir plane flying the Milan-Bucharest route, which landed safely. At Copenhagen Airport, there were also two bomb alerts on planes that had landed there, but they turned out to be false threats and there were no disruptions to the facility's operations.

These incidents occurred after on Tuesday several flights in Europe also had to activate security measures due to bomb threats that turned out to be false. The day before, an alert had also been activated on a flight traveling between Luton (in the south of England) and Sofia, which had to make an emergency landing in Budapest escorted by Hungarian fighter jets.
