Genocide from a satellite: Google Maps shows the extent of the devastation in Gaza
Doctors Without Borders denounces the destruction of basic infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.
BarcelonaGoogle Maps has updated its satellite images of the Gaza Strip. Just a bird's-eye view reveals the total destruction: "The photographs show the methodical demolition of almost the entire territory and basic infrastructure", denounces Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) with a video that compares updated satellite images of areas of the Strip such as Nasser Hospital, the southern border or Khan Yunis, with those of August 2023, two months before Israel's indiscriminate attacks began.
In two years totally or partially, as well as 2,308 educational centers. 94% of hospitals have been attacked by the Israeli army –in the north of the Strip there is none that works at full capacity–, and 82% of water, sanitation and hygiene facilities are in militarized zones or under forced displacement orders.According to the UN, the Israeli bombings released 85,000 tons of explosives and generated 50 million tons of debris, which will take more than twenty years to clean up.
MSF reports that we are witnessing "the deliberate and systematic annihilation of the conditions necessary for life of Palestinians by Israeli forces" and criticizes the "indiscriminate attacks against the civilian population."
