The World's 50 Best Restaurants: This Thursday we'll find out the new number 1 to which Disfrutar will cede the crown.
The top of the English ranking will be announced at a gala in Turin.
It has already happened One year since Disfrutar was crowned best restaurant of the world in Las Vegas. And this means that starting Thursday, it will no longer be so. Not because it has dropped in the rankings, but because once you've been there, you become part of an exclusive club, which they call Best of the best, and you're out of the competition. This year it will be in Turin, a city with more culinary tradition than the Nevada desert. If you publish the list, chef Albert Adrià's restaurant won't be featured. Therefore, it will most likely have climbed to the coveted ranking of 50 restaurants. The Michelin guide's thorn will be removed this June?
What do we know?
The extended list that was announced just a few days ago has also brought joy to the city of Barcelona. The addition of the Torres brothers with their Les Corts restaurant, Cocina Hermanos Torres. They enter at number 78. Dénia chef Quique Dacosta has not been so lucky; last year he was at number 14, now he's down to 65. It's also worth remembering that last year, number 2 went toAsador Etxebarri, a restaurant where it is practically impossible to reserve a tableThird place went to Table, by Bruno Verjus, located in Paris. Fourth place went to DiverXo, the Madrid restaurant owned by the charismatic Dabiz Muñoz, and fifth place went to Maido, the Nikkei restaurant in Lima, Peru.
What is certain is that Catalonia will take a good while to have a restaurant at the top. Specifically, it has received this recognition eight times: five at El Bulli, two at El Celler de Can Roca, and one at Disfrutar. Before then, of course, it could have been repeated. In any case, no other territory has ever received so many, considering that this year's gala will be the 23rd.
