Located in a privileged, secluded corner of San Pedro de Ribes, Caburé is much more than a restaurant; it's Maribel Adán's dream come true. Since opening its doors in January 2017, this little hideaway has captured attention with its simple, Mediterranean cuisine featuring seasonal produce. With these ingredients, it has become a benchmark restaurant in the area, where customers come from day one confident they will always be welcome and satisfied. "There are those who never fail, they always come and always leave with a smile," says Maribel proudly. Before making her dream a reality, she was a saleswoman, but in her spare time, she devoted time to her true passion: cooking. "I was fascinated by it, I never stopped cooking, and I dreamed of having my own restaurant," she confesses. The opportunity came eight years ago, when she decided to leave everything behind to open Caburé. "I didn't hesitate. It was a leap of faith, but I knew it was what I wanted to do. It wasn't easy, but I achieved it," she adds with a determined smile.
The restaurant is located in an old farmhouse, built around 1800, which was originally an animal stable. The decor and layout of the establishment are a statement of intent: they evoke the Mediterranean style with white walls that create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for unwinding and enjoying a good meal in good company. Every corner reflects Maribel's effort and passion for creating a space where customers can feel at home.
Maribel is very clear about the gastronomic formula for her success: offering a weekly menu for €19, with six starters and six main courses, and a short but varied menu on weekends, with more traditional dishes. The experience begins with Cantabrian anchovies and tomato bread, followed by foie gras ravioli with tartufata and Parmesan cheese, or shrimp lollipops in masala sauce. "I like to make local cuisine, but also incorporate oriental touches, like these shrimp or tuna tartare," explains Maribel, who combines the best of both worlds to delight her guests.
For main courses, the variety continues: a house cod with aioli soufflé on a homemade tomato base, baked potato and Padrón peppers, and an octopus carpaccio with violet potato gnocchi. For meat lovers, the boneless pig's trotters with black sausage, Santa Pau beans, and seasonal mushrooms is a definite must-try. To pair, Jordi, the head waiter, recommends a Vibacu from Penedès, a red wine made with Tempranillo and Mazuela varieties.
Dessert: carrot soufflé with pistachios, which we share like good brothers. We make coffee and drinks on the terrace opposite the entrance. It exudes peace and tranquility. It's clear that the customers have found a restaurant with a very good teak floor and a corner to unwind and recharge. "On summer nights with the little lights, this area is magical." Maribel is clear that she will retire and leave the kitchen of this Masia, which she opened a few years ago with effort and dedication, orphaned, but she admits that maintaining a business like this is complicated and demanding. She remembers how she came up with the name of the restaurant. "When my daughter was little, I used to call her owl, but the name was taken, and caburé is a synonym," she says with a smile.
Looking back, Maribel feels proud in her heart of having made a dream come true, because she knows that Caburé is not just a restaurant; it is a testament to passion, perseverance, and a love for life and cooking. And even as time passes and new stories begin, Maribel's spirit and her magical corner in Sant Pere de Ribes will continue to be a refuge for those seeking a place where they can feel at home, where magic and simplicity merge so that dreams, when cultivated with heart, leave an eternal mark on those who live them.
