Cornellà de Llobregat, the second largest city in the Baix Llobregat region, has been undergoing a quiet but steady transformation in its culinary scene for years. In this city, it's not just about eating well; it's about eating with pride. More and more locals and visitors alike are choosing to dine at its restaurants, drawn by honest cuisine, reasonable prices, and inviting spaces that encourage leisurely dining. Within this burgeoning culinary landscape, some establishments have established themselves as benchmarks. One such example is undoubtedly the restaurant Més de Grandi. Located on the Hospitalet road, it opened its doors in 2007, the brainchild of Eduardo de Grandi. The restaurant is the natural evolution of a smaller, earlier establishment, known simply as De Grandi. "I used to have a smaller restaurant, and when I decided to renovate, everyone kept saying, 'I hope you make it bigger,' 'Make it bigger!' And that's exactly what happened. That's also where the name came from," explains the owner with a smile that conveys pride and a sense of connection with the clientele.
At the helm of the kitchen is Sonia Cabau, a key figure in a project with a clear objective: to reach everyone without compromising on quality. "We want to encourage people to eat out every day," says De Grandi. With this idea as their guiding principle, they have created a menu based on Mediterranean cuisine with contemporary touches, designed both to retain regular customers and to attract new ones, especially families. The restaurant offers a daily menu, à la carte options, and a weekend menu, adapting to different paces and dining preferences. We started with some homemade croquettes... monkey For sharing, a true calling card of the house. From there, the first courses stake their claim: crispy apple and Catalan sausage ravioli; artichoke hearts with duck ham; or free-range eggs with sobrasada and shoestring potatoes. The arrival of the first courses also invites you to uncork a bottle of Montsant with a name as suggestive as it is revealing: You are the best judge.A wine that elegantly complements the main courses, savored at leisure: grilled Iberian pork secreto with romesco sauce, melting in the mouth; grilled skirt steak; and homemade cannelloni of fresh pasta filled with salt cod brandade and garlic.
Dessert completes the meal: a traditional rum cake, lemon tart, or a chocolate biscuit that puts the finishing touch on a truly complete experience. With full bellies and coffees on the table, one realizes that Eduardo de Grandi has achieved his goal: he leads a restaurant where families eat well, have a good time, and linger over conversation as if they don't want the moment to end. In the private room of Més de Grandi, the friends and family of Antonio, a regular customer, are celebrating his birthday. The laughter, the toasts, and the joyful faces confirm that they chose the right place to show him their affection. They have eaten well, paid a fair price, and, above all, created a shared memory.
And perhaps therein lies the true greatness of Més de Grandi: it doesn't just serve dishes, it creates moments. In a city that champions the pleasure of eating well without artifice, this restaurant stands as a space where the cuisine is the excuse and the table, the stage. A place where every meal is a daily celebration and where Cornellà reaffirms, dish by dish, its gastronomic identity.
