BarcelonaCatalonia is by far the region in Spain with the most Michelin stars. It currently has 62 restaurants with at least one star; 48 restaurants with one star, 9 with two and 5 with three. In total, 81 starsLet's take a look at the six new additions, as well as the two restaurants that have been dropped, and the entries in the Bib Gourmand, the league of quality restaurants at more affordable prices. In fact, 80% of the restaurants on the list are either in this category or in the recommended category.

Rising stars

The guide has decided to include 25 new restaurants in the one-star category, and only two have been added to the list in Catalonia, both in the city of Barcelona. The recognized restaurants are... Kamikaze, by Enric Buendía, a daring proposal of Japanese cuisine conceived by this chef seasoned in the kitchen of Disfrutar, and the bar omakase from the restaurant EscapeUnfortunately, Japanese chef Kouichi Kuwabara had to miss the gala due to personal reasons. Where Catalonia has truly excelled is in the two-Michelin-star category, achieving four promotions. Three restaurants in Barcelona: Aleia, by Rafa de Bedoya and Paulo Airaudo, Enigmaby Albert Adrià, and Mont Bar, by Fran Agudo. The fourth restaurant is located in Bellvís, in the Pla d'Urgell region, and it is The Boscana by Joel Castanyé and María Ángeles Chiriboga. In total, there have been five two-Michelin-starred restaurants. The fifth was the Madrid restaurant. Ramon Freixa Atelier, of the Catalan Ramon Freixa. The three Catalan stars have retained their titles. No one has won or lost a star in the entire country. There are 16 stars, 5 in Catalonia.

Stars that are declining

The gala is always a place of joy and splendor for those who win stars, a recognition that automatically fills their restaurants. But there's another side to the coin: those who lose stars. In Catalonia this year we've been lucky. Only the stars have been lost. plannedThe Oria restaurant, which is closed and undergoing renovations while awaiting a new concept, and the Aürt restaurant. Artur Martínez's fantastic restaurant is relocating precisely to allow for further expansion.

Bib Gourmand

It's always worth keeping an eye on the recommendations included in the Bib Gourmand lists, as these are establishments where you can eat well but without breaking the bank. Five Catalan restaurants have been added to the list: Bardeni-Caldeni, Glug, Oniric in Barcelona. Urbisol in Calders and The Ca l'Enric Hostel in the Bianya Valley. The latter is the restaurant run by the Juncà family, masters of game cuisine, who also hold a Michelin star at Ca l'Enric.
