Junts confirms that it will vote against the rent extension decree in Congress
Miriam Nogueras's party recalls that the measure cannot be modified and that is why they do not endorse it
Junts has stated that it will vote against the rental extension decree to be debated this Tuesday in Congress. Last week, Carles Puigdemont's party proposed a tax deduction on mortgages and rents to "give breathing room to the middle class" and stated that the Spanish government had the option to withdraw the royal decree. Consulted sources recall that the decree going to the plenary session cannot be modified and therefore they cannot endorse it. "Our housing policies have been made clear," they point out, recalling that there are also pending issues such as the reduction of fees for the self-employed.
The Minister of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and the 2030 Agenda, Pablo Bustinduy, has assured that Junts is proposing "some fiscal measures and clarifications" that are "acceptable" and that he sees it as "possible" and "viable" to reach an "agreement".
For Carles Puigdemont's party, these words "prove" that Sumar has understood what Junts defends, although they warn: "The Government knows what we are proposing. We do not have to negotiate anything, nor are we negotiating anything." Sources from the Junts group have pointed out that "the royal decree-law that goes to the plenary session tomorrow, and which cannot be modified, we will not vote for, as we have said from day one".
