BarcelonaThe Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and the 2030 Agenda of the Spanish government has opened an investigation into a large real estate company in the State. The company in question – whose name the executive has not made public – owns "thousands of homes" across the country, with apartments in various autonomous communities, according to a statement released by the executive this Thursday.

During the investigation prior to the opening of the proceedings, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs identified four potential infringements. On the one hand, it is suspected that the company imposed non-payment insurance on tenants, along with a clause recognizing individual negotiation of the adhesion contract.

There are also indications that the real estate company has been applying "disproportionate" penalties for each day of delay in the delivery of the home and that it has been incorporating a clause with "unjustified" penalties related to supply equipment and the change of ownership of these supplies.

ratified a fine of 3.6 million eurosPrecedent

The file announced this Thursday arrives shortly after last April the same ministry headed by Pablo Bustinduy ratified a fine of 3.6 million euros to Alquiler Seguro for abusive practices to its tenants.

As the Spanish executive detailed at the time, the real estate company committed six infractions considered "very serious" and one "serious", for violating consumer rights and for taking advantage of its dominant position in the market.
