Emma Vilarasau, Jordi Boixaderas, La Calòrica, T de Teatre and Chino Darín to celebrate the 120 years of the Teatre Poliorama
The season includes a new production of 'Dakota', the play by Jordi Galceran
BarcelonaThe Poliorama Theatre celebrates 120 years of history on Barcelona's Rambla with a program that highlights names such as Emma Vilarasau, La Calòrica, T de Teatre and Chino Darín. Also taking part will be Jordi Boixaderas, Carles Sans, Roger Coma and Ginés García Millán. The new season also coincides with the 30 years of the theatre's management by Tres per 3, the union of the members of Dagoll Dagom, Tricicle and Anexa. The presentation event brought together Carles Sans, Paco Mir, Anna Rosa Cisquella and Toni Albaladejo, founders of Tres per 3, which incorporates Josep Domènech, from Bitò, and Anna Victori, current manager of the Poliorama. “We have gone through difficult moments, such as with the pandemic. There have also been tense political moments in the city, and here we are,” said Sans, who will premiere the monologue Per fi me'n vaig.
“We have always combined commercial appeal with quality. In this new season there is a mix of young theatre and lifelong theatre,” explains Sans. Last season the Poliorama had an occupancy rate of 59%, with about 116,000 spectators for the main programming line. However, Dagoll Dagom founder Anna Rosa Cisquella highlights the difficulties of maintaining a benchmark theatre in Barcelona. “Sustainability existed because we programmed our own shows (Dagoll Dagom, Tricicle, Anexa) in this theatre. Without our own productions, everything would be much more difficult and ruinous,” explains Cisquella, who celebrates the arrival of the musical L'alegria que passa in China.
The 2026-2027 season will feature seven premiere shows, among which a new production of Dakota stands out, the play by Jordi Galceran that inaugurated the first season of Tres per 3 at the Poliorama. The adaptation, directed by Marta Buchaca and starring Roger Coma, can be seen starting April 22. “Although plays like The Grönholm Method and The Credit have had more international reach, I believe that Dakota is the best comedy I have written,” asserts Galceran.
The programming kicks off with La truita, premiered within the framework of the Grec Festival. The success by Ferran Utzet, starring Emma Vilarasau and Jordi Boixaderas, intends to tour Catalonia in 2027. The Poliorama will also host the first joint co-production by the companies T de Teatre and La Calòrica: Les dones Piñeiro, which explores the role of the female struggle within the trade union movement and which will be performed starting January 29th. The season will close with El quinto paso, by playwright David Ireland, and with performances by Chino Darín and Ginés García Millán.
An offer for all audiences
The Poliorama continues to bet on family theater with the Petit Poliorama program, which will include productions such as Gaudí: el despertar del geni, on the occasion of the commemoration of the architect's centenary of death. The actor Paco Mir, a member of Tricicle, will direct two complementary productions: La venganza de Don Mendo, the classic by Pedro Muñoz Seca, and an adaptation of Edmond Rostand's Cyrano. The family programming will also feature shows such as Màgic Pablo: el gran repte and Jana, el musical. Likewise, the Poliorama maintains its commitment to bringing theater to educational centers with 85 school performances scheduled.
