BarcelonaGrifols earned 162 million euros in the third quarter, 28% more than the previous year. The Catalan blood-derived products giant has been boosted by its biopharmaceutical business and increased its revenue in the period by 8.4% year-on-year at constant exchange rates, reaching 2.040 billion euros. With this result, according to what the multinational reported in a statement, the turnover for the first nine months of the year rose to 5.614 billion euros, 4.6% more than a year earlier. Profit between January and September, for its part, reached 390 million euros, 28.4% more.
The company recorded an "improvement in margins and profitability" which was reflected in the adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA), which grew in the first nine months of the year to 1.392 billion euros, 5% more at constant exchange rates. Regarding these accounts, the company reported free cash flow of 208 million euros in the third quarter, which brings the accumulated total for the first nine months of the year to 298 million euros, an increase of 110 million compared to the same period in 2025. Furthermore, the board of directors has agreed to pay an interim dividend of 15 cents per share, which will be paid on December 4th.
The improvement in results has allowed for a substantial reduction in the leverage ratio—the relationship between debt and gross operating profit—which stood at 3.98x, compared to 4.2x for the same period in 2025. According to the company, this evolution "reflects the continued efforts to gradually reduce debt".
Grifols attributes the quarterly performance to "volume growth, the notable increase in subcutaneous immunoglobulins, and the optimization of the plasma center network"; and also to an improvement in operational efficiency. The main driver of the company's growth has been the biopharmaceutical segment, which recorded a revenue increase of over 10% at constant exchange rates in the third quarter.
Growth in the main businesses
The CEO of the Catalan pharmaceutical company, Nacho Abia, has celebrated the quarterly results, which reveal "a growth in the main businesses that translates into greater profitability and cash generation". For his part, the company's Chief Financial Officer, Rahul Srinivasan, has assured that the figures reported this Monday "strengthen the balance sheet and provide a solid liquidity position". Regarding these accounts, which he places "in line with expectations", Grifols confirms the financial targets for the year 2026.
