This is what August will be like in Torroella, the festival that invites you to slow down.
The Musiciens du Louvre, Niño de Elche, Marco Mezquida and Lucile Boulanger, among the guests from August 3 to 22

Barcelona"We live in an algorithmic society that tends to consume everything, including culture, immediately," reflects Montse Faura. Bajo-Empordà is a far-reaching temporal experience that covers six centuries of musical history, from the 14th century onwards, with a concert by the group Tasto Solo about the Ars Subtilior at the court of John I of Aragon (a king who spent the last month of his life in Torroella until he died in strange circumstances hunting in Foix'. A tandem of the viola da gamba player Lucile Boulanger and Calling Marian will fuse Baroque and electronic music in a Versailles-style setting on the last day of the festival in a free concert. There will be 17 concerts in total, which also bridge the gap between tradition and innovation. The festival features 40% early music. The Musiciens du Louvre will open the event performing Handel, conducted by Marc Minkowski. The line-up will include the Catalan soprano Serena Sáenz, who will make her debut in Torroella with the Vallés Symphony Orchestra; you will also be able to hear the vocal and instrumental ensemble Armonico Consort, with Dani Espasa conducting Vespers of Arnadí
Dutch Torroella Janine Jansen leading the Camerata Salzburg, pianist András Schiff, the cello and piano duo formed by Mariona Camats and Eudald Buch, pianist Marco Mezquida in trio format and a classic of the festival such as Joaquín Achúcarro
Among the unique and singular proposals, in addition to the closing ceremony, it is worth highlighting the Cobla Montgrins with pianist Carles Marigó, performing versions of Juli Garrreta's most emblematic sardanas, and the tandem of Niño de Elche with the Franco-Egyptian poet and singer Abdullah Miniawy, in a concert that is a dialogue between traditions. Torroella also hosts a spin-off of the In-Edit documentary festival, with screenings every Tuesday from July 1 to August 19 at the Montgrí Cinema, which will include discussions and short concerts.
The festival has had a 12% increase in its budget compared to last year, due to an increase in sponsorship and private support, as well as greater activity. Torroella has 667,500 euros, of which 71% is public funding. The festival is part of the Ambronay Academy - Sustainable EEEmerging, which will offer the concert for members with violinist Amandine Beyer and will host three emerging groups in residence. This lineup will commemorate the 45th anniversary of a competition born from civil society and projected nationally.
