BarcelonaA change of course for Sónar, which is abandoning the 2026 format to return to the traditional one. That is, in 2027, instead of gathering all the daytime and nighttime programming in a single space, the Gran Via 2 exhibition center in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, the festival returns to organizing a Sónar by Day and a Sónar by Night in two different locations. The night will continue at the Fira, a fixed venue since 2001, and the daytime activity, including that of Sónar+D, will take place "on the seafront of central Barcelona", as explained by the festival directed by François Jozic, who does not specify the location. Everything suggests, however, that the new venue will be the sheds at the Port Vell, which were renovated for the America's Cup and have already hosted events such as the fashion shows of 080 Barcelona Fashion.
The recovery of the historic format with Sónar by Day and Sónar by Night seems the logical decision, after the 2026 edition had difficulties attracting audiences during the early hours of the afternoon at the Fira Gran Via 2, far from the effervescence experienced during the day at the Montjuïc exhibition center. Nor was the idea of holding Sónar+D at the Llotja de Mar successful; not because the space was not good, but because it was disconnected from the rest of the festival's programming. Finally, the 2027 festival will have a Sónar by Day on June 17, 18, and 19 and a Sónar by Night on the nights of the 18th and 19th. OFFSónar at Poble Espanyol and Sónar Distrit and Sónar Kids at the Parc del Fòrum will continue.
Regarding the artistic programming, for the 34th edition, Sónar announced this Tuesday about thirty names, among which stand out the Swede Yung Lean, the Briton Bonobo, the Dominican Tokischa, the British funk-disco diva Jessie Ware and the South Korean Peggy Gou, who gave a memorable session at Sónar by Night in 2025.
Also performing will be dance electronics veterans like Carl Cox, Oscar Mulero, and Goldie, as well as artists and groups such as Romy (from The XX), Collabs3000 (Chris Liebing & Speedy J), KI/KI, Sinister, Honey Dijon, Job Jobse, SALOME, Busy P b2b Girl Ultra, Aurora Halal live, Donato Dozzy & Batu, Tash LC, Ehua & Flore, Goldie live, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Frost Children, TK MAMI and Opal Sunn, among others.
