A new festival is born in Poble Espanyol
Barcelona's Barts venue will have a second life and will bring Beat, Elvis Crespo and Belle & Sebastian to Barcelona
BarcelonaThe Barcelona venue Barts (Barcelona Arts on Stage), which closed in April 2022, will have a second life as a festival at Poble Espanyol. From June 28 to July 24, the festival will feature concerts by Beat, the band formed by musicians Steve Vai, Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, and Danny Carey, which revives the legacy of King Crimson's 1980s era. The international lineup continues with ZZ Top, icons of American rock; the Scottish indie pop band Belle & Sebastian; Biffy Clyro, one of the most influential European alternative rock bands of the last two decades; Elvis Crespo, a leading figure in Latin music; and God Save the Queen, which reinterprets the legacy of Queen.
The stages at Poble Espanyol will also feature performances by Joan Dausà, M-Clan, Lax'N'Busto, Antoñito Molina, Marta Santos, and Ojete Calor. Barts not only revives the name of the Barcelona venue but also marks the reunion and alliance between The Project and Serious Fan Music. These two promoters made possible historic concerts at Poble Espanyol itself, including those by Ray Charles, James Brown, Miles Davis, Santana, Herbie Hancock, BB King, Pat Metheny Group, Caetano Veloso, Fania All Stars, and King Crimson, among others. "The festival aims to establish itself as one of the strongest and most attractive summer events in Barcelona," the organizers affirm.
