Barcelona-born actress Ivana Baquero has long lived a nomadic life, splitting her time between her hometown of the United States and New Zealand, where her husband is from and where she shoots many of her television and film projects. I'm currently reading several books by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. The Shadow of the Wind, a classic. Many of his books are set in Barcelona, and when I read them, they transport me back to my city. I love it," he explains.

Baquero rescued The Shadow of the Wind from her parents' library, who still live in Barcelona. "I found it in the bookcase at my parents' house. When I don't know what to read and can't find inspiration, I look at their bookcase, which is enormous, and I always find gems," she says. "I miss Barcelona a lot, and Spain in general, because they are my roots. There is no place like it and you have to take care of it. There are countries that are wonderful, but traveling the world you realize that the culture and quality of life that exists here can't be found anywhere else," reflects the actress, who is dowry.

With The Shadow of the Wind, published in 2000, Carlos Ruiz Zafón became one of the best-selling authors in the state. That novel was the first step in the tetralogy The Cemetery of Forgotten Books, which would be completed with The Angel's Game (2008), The Prisoner of Heaven (2011) and The Labyrinth of Spirits (2016).

There is a biographical detail that unites Ruiz Zafón and Baquero. Like the actress, the author also went "to make it in the Americas." After winning the Edebé award with The Prince of Mist, the writer decided to move to the United States and settle in Los Angeles, a dream he had since he was a child due to his fascination with cinema. It was the city of stars where Ruiz Zafón died in 2020, at the age of 55, as a result of cancer..
