Barcelona"You get up on pointe shoes and make a fool of yourself," said Nacho Duato a few weeks ago in an Instagram video –which he deleted– in which he criticized the ballerina aesthetic that accompanies Rosalía in this latest show of hers. The singer from Sant Esteve de Sesrovires remained immune to the criticism and this Saturday night she performed the song Reliquia in this demanding ballet position for the nearly four minutes of the track. The practically motionless shot, and her solitary figure in a tutu until a dozen dancers finally appeared by her side, made the power of her voice and her static and ecstatic stage presence shine.

As is customary, the artist was able to perform a second track, which was Magnolias, the song that closes their album Lux. Here there was indeed more scenic artifice, as an artificial rain was set up in the legendary studio from where this television program, which is already in its 52nd season, is broadcast. The falling water wet their hair and face, and caused the white dress they were wearing to become increasingly transparent and cling to their body. It was a very theatrical number with great visual impact.

This is the second time the Catalan artist performs on Saturday Night Live, after being invited in 2022 and performing the more lighthearted La fama and Chicken Teriyaki. And, beyond being the artist for these two episodes, Rosalía can even add a third appearance on this sketch show, since when Bad Bunny was the guest musician in 2021, he offered her to make a cameo alongside him.

Tonight's episode had comedian Shane Gillis as the host, who delivered a very divisive opening monologue: this made Rosalía's performance be valued as one of the highlights of the episode. The singer, furthermore, could also be seen making a brief intervention in one of the gags starring Gillis.
