BarcelonaA new chapter in the court case against Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Princess Mette-Husband of Norway. The young man was formally charged by the Nordic country's prosecutor's office with four cases of rape and several cases of abuse against his ex-partners. The accusation comes after a June The police found him responsible for 23 crimes., a figure that has now risen to 32.

Marius, the product of a relationship between Mette-Marit and Crown Prince Haakon prior to her marriage, has been arrested three times since being held for a few hours in August last year following an incident at an ex-girlfriend's apartment. The list of crimes the Prosecutor's Office accuses him of includes acts of violence against a former partner, criminal damage, disturbing public order, and filming the sexual organs of several women without their consent or knowledge.

"These are very serious acts that can leave their mark and destroy lives. The maximum penalty for these crimes mentioned in the indictment is 10 years' imprisonment," explained the prosecutor, Sturla Henriksbø, who stressed the importance of "equality before the law" and that this will not imply that "he will be treated more or less harshly than if these acts were committed by someone else." Mette-Marit's son only admits to the crimes of violence against a woman and threats against a man. Høiby's trial is expected to begin in January 2026.

Marius Borg Høiby does not participate in official Norwegian royal events, although he attends some celebrations, such as his half-sisters' birthdays, and has always maintained a close relationship with both Haakon, his mother's husband, and his king.
