Wednesday of impasse before a more extensive spell of showers
Thursday a change of weather will arrive that will bring more instability and a drop in temperatures
BarcelonaYesterday, showers and thunderstorms returned in a more disconnected way in some regions. They mainly affected parts of the Pyrenees, the pre-coastal area, Central Catalonia, and the northeastern interior. In some cases, real downpours occurred, accompanied by hail or sleet, as already happened on Monday, especially in the regions of Osona and Ripollès.
Today the showers will be even more localized in areas of the Pyrenees and Ports, with general calm, and especially heat and mugginess that will remain intense. But on Thursday, instability will increase and showers will fall in many regions, especially in the interior, with some downpours. Meteocat has already issued warnings for heavy rain on Thursday in many areas.
A change of weather that will also strengthen the north wind at the extremes. This will involve more cold air and a withdrawal of the North African warm air mass to the south, which will lower temperatures. Therefore, between Thursday and Friday we will breathe a little better, but from the weekend the heat will pick up again with force.
Wednesday: a day to take advantage of
The sun will generally dominate this Wednesday. There will only be some low morning clouds in coastal stretches that will increase the feeling of mugginess. In the afternoon, showers will be more localized and will concentrate in parts of the Pyrenees and the Ports area, while calm will continue in the rest of the territories. A profitable day in general, with a north wind in the morning in Alt Empordà.
All in all, with temperatures that will remain similar or rise slightly, both day and night. The night has once again been warm and muggy in large parts of the coast, the pre-coast, and the south, and cool in mountain areas and nearby areas. Most of the maximums will range between 33 and 38 °C in the pre-coast and inland, although they could reach 40 °C in Ponent. On the coast, values will be slightly lower, but with marked mugginess.
Brief change of weather
Thursday will see increased instability, with showers and thunderstorms gaining ground. They could fall anywhere in the pre-coastal areas, inland, the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, and may even reach some coastal stretches, such as the south of the Costa Brava and the central coast. Downpours are possible, leaving a lot of rain in a short time, and may be accompanied by hail, sleet, or gusts of wind.
Friday will leave remnants of some showers, but the weather will be much calmer than on Thursday. A change in weather that will cause a slight drop in temperatures, but at least will make the heat a little more bearable, especially where it rains. On the coast is where the change will be noticed the least. In any case, this change will not last long, as the intense heat will return in the following days.
