The temperature begins an ascent that will make it rub 40 ºC again

BarcelonaThe meteorological autumn has begun with very calm weather, dominated by the presence of clouds that, from midday onwards, have gained ground, although they have not left any precipitation. The mercury has relaxed a little and reached 32 ℃ or 33 ℃ where it has been hottest, but from Wednesday onwards this situation will reverse and the temperature will rise notably. We expect a second half of the week with thermal values well above the climatic average for early September, with no significant cooling in sight.

Wednesday: new thermal ascent

The week will progress with few changes, and on Wednesday there will be many more hours of sunshine everywhere and the temperature will rise clearly. The minimum will already rise during the early morning, with more tropical minimums in the pre-littoral and in areas of Ponent, but the maximum will rise notably in some cases. This thermal rise will also continue on Thursday and Friday, when the temperature could exceed 35 ℃ or 36 ℃ in many inland areas.

Thursday: heat intensifies

The temperature will continue to rise in the coming days and will reach 35 ℃ in more inland areas, with unusual heat at the beginning of September. In fact, in some places in Ponent and the interior of the Ebro valley, temperatures could already reach 37 ℃ or 38 ℃. The minimum temperature will also rise and tropical nights will regain ground on the coast, the pre-coast and in Ponent. As for the sky, the sun will once again dominate, with practically no change compared to Wednesday.

The warm peak will arrive between Friday and Saturday

The mass of warm air affecting the Iberian Peninsula will reach its peak before the weekend, with an exceptional temperature at 850 hPa (around 1,500 meters). It would not be surprising to reach some record at this level with the radiosounding data launched from the University Zone of the Catalan capital. On Friday, the temperature will reach 37 ℃ or 38 ℃ in the central pre-littoral and in regions such as Bages, while it could approach 40 ℃ in Ponent and the Ebro valley.
