The showers and thunderstorms will increase and the atmosphere will cool down
Warnings for heavy rain and strong thunderstorms
BarcelonaThe week will start with more showers and thunderstorms that will discharge with intensity, especially during Monday afternoon. A cold air mass, with values close to -25 ºC at 5,500 m, will cause instability to increase. The weather will remain unstable in the coming days and new frontal lines will arrive, keeping the sky very cloudy with more precipitation. Temperatures will begin to drop and in the Pyrenees, the thunderstorms will leave snow at altitudes close to 2,000 m.
Throughout this Sunday, showers have been observed again that have accumulated 5 to 10 l/m2 in Ponent, the Pyrenees and the south, with some maximums of up to 24 l/m2 in Espot (2,400 m), 13 l/m2 in Boí (2,500 m) and 11 l/m2 in Pont de Suert. At the end of this information, we will add a more extensive list of accumulated rainfall amounts.
Insecure start to the week and with new showers
Instability will remain thanks to the presence of a small cold air pocket at altitude that will feed the growth of clouds and will be the cause of a Monday with more widespread rain. The showers will be more general and a bit more abundant, even more intense and with thunderstorms. Meteocat has issued a warning for intense rain, valid for Monday and until Tuesday.
The rain will begin in the Pyrenees and western Pre-Pyrenees with the arrival of a precipitation line from the west. In the afternoon, the showers will reactivate and fall heavily in the pre-coastal area, the Pre-Pyrenees, the Pyrenees, and the Girona regions. In the north of Central Catalonia or in Ports, the thunderstorms will leave hail or sleet. Towards the evening, the rain will fall more generally in the northeast and reach the coast.
The temperature will move again around 22 ºC in many regions and some maximums will still reach 25 ºC in Ponent. The thermometer may drop slightlyfrom Tuesday.
