The Indian summer is running out of steam: gale and significant weather change on the horizon
Calm and warm on Wednesday, but on Thursday the wind will blow strongly and the week will end with a clear coolness and possible rain.

BarcelonaThe mild summer has continued in recent hours, with a very calm atmosphere. This situation will continue on Wednesday, even with slightly higher temperatures: a warm atmosphere in the middle of the day, with values about 5°C above average. The highest highs will reach 30°C in the southern interior, as was already the case today in Terres de l'Ebre, where a high of 29.8°C was noted in Aldover (Baix Ebre). But it will be the last calm and warm day, as a strong westerly wind will arrive on Thursday, affecting many regions. From then on, temperatures will drop significantly, and we will end the week with a cool, autumnal atmosphere, also with the possible arrival of rain.
Wednesday: peak of Indian summer
This Wednesday will once again be a very calm day, with sunshine combined with bands of high, thin clouds that will cross the country from west to east. More clouds will only be present in the Pyrenees and nearby areas, with local showers possible, especially in the afternoon. The westerly wind will again blow moderately in the middle of the day in the central and southern parts of the country and in higher elevations.
Minimum temperatures will rise, and the cool weather will be even more moderate, even mild in the early hours along parts of the coast. Maximum temperatures will be similar to Tuesday's or even rise slightly, reaching their peak. Many temperatures will range between 24 and 29°C, with some temperatures reaching 30°C in the southern interior. The weather will be warm for the season, but it will be the peak of a summer that won't last much longer.

Strong wind before the cool down
The passage of an Atlantic front, which will descend from a very active low pressure system located in the British Isles, will bring a strong westerly wind to our home on Thursday. The wind will blow strongly in many regions, especially in the center and south and in elevated areas. Wind speeds could exceed 70 km/h in heavily populated areas unfamiliar with strong winds, such as the Barcelona area. Meteocat has activated yellow and orange wind warnings in several regions, and Civil Protection has activated the Ventcat plan alert.
This gusty wind will only last a few hours and will not continue into the following days, but it will mark the end of the Indian summer. Temperatures will already drop inland and the Pyrenees on Thursday, and the drop will be widespread on Friday. The drop will become even more pronounced over the weekend, with a fully autumnal atmosphere. The weather forecast suggests rain could reach any region between Saturday and Sunday. This is still an uncertain situation, but we will have to be more specific about it.
