The heat of mid-summer is advancing again in the coming days
Temperatures will rise with enthusiasm, and on the weekend over 35 ºC will be surpassed
BarcelonaThis Thursday we woke up to cool and lingering instability. The maximum temperature began to rise in some places, but the heat during the middle of the day was still moderate, with only 30 or 31 °C locally reached in the southern interior. We have experienced the last day with the mercury under control and quite normalized for the dates, as in the coming days thermometers will rise non-stop. Another episode of mid-summer heat, advanced for the time of year, awaits us, with values above average. Throughout the weekend the atmosphere will be particularly warm, with many highs above 30 °C in the pre-coastal areas and inland, but over 35 °C will be exceeded in Ponent and Ebre. The arrival of a mass of warm air from North Africa will coincide with a powerful anticyclone that will guarantee sun and calm everywhere.
Friday: hotter
Temperatures will take a significant step forward this Friday. The early morning and first hours of the morning will still be cool overall, although minimums will already rise in some areas. Maximums will climb with more enthusiasm than on Thursday, with many values from 27 to 33 °C, but even locally they will reach or exceed 35 °C in Ponent and the Ebro valley.
A summery atmosphere that will be accompanied by absolute calm. Radiant sun will be the clear dominator everywhere, with only some low cloud or morning fog that will dissipate quickly, and in the afternoon, if any cloud develops in the Pyrenees, it will be anecdotal and completely harmless. Moderate north wind in the morning at the extremities, and in the afternoon only in Empordà.
Very warm weekend
Thermometers will still shoot up more this weekend. We are expecting a Saturday and Sunday of full heatwave, with many highs from 30 to 35°C, but up to 37 or locally 38°C in Ponent and Ebre. They will only be shorter in mountainous areas and coastal stretches, here with more marked stuffiness. Minimums will also rise, with tropical nights gaining ground on the coast. And there is no clear end in sight to this summer heat.
All this with sun and generalized anticyclonic calm. Therefore, the large amount of solar radiation hours we will have will contribute to raising the mercury. The incursion of warm African air will also be accompanied by Saharan dust in suspension. Perhaps from Sunday onwards it will be easier for some afternoon showers to reappear in the Pyrenees.
