BarcelonaThe first week of December begins, promising another changeable and variable weather. For now, today will be a day of relative calm, with sunshine and fog in the morning. But tomorrow, a new, weakened front will arrive, bringing more snow, especially to the Pyrenees of Lleida. The weather will be cold during the nights and early mornings, and daytime highs will remain subdued. Temperatures will stay slightly below average for this time of year. However, no intense cold spells or widespread heavy rain are expected.

The weekend ended on Sunday with the passage of a very weak front that only brought a few showers to the Pyrenees. In fact, among the accumulated rainfall yesterday, the most notable amounts were 10 l/m² at Lac Redon, 5 at Sasseuva, 4 at Bonaigua, and 1 each at Vielha and Boí (2,500 m). These precipitations fell as snow from about 1,200 m, locally lower, with accumulations of between 5 and 10 cm above 2,000 m.

Forecast for Monday morning

Monday: calm, sunny and cold morning

Today will be a transitional day, with mostly clear skies, except in the inland plains, where fog will linger and keep the air damp and cold until midday. Thin clouds are expected in the Pyrenees, with somewhat low temperatures early in the morning. Warm clothing is necessary in the early hours, as frost is expected throughout the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, as well as in various inland and pre-coastal areas. Notable lows include -9°C in Das (Cerdanya), -6°C in Pont de Suert (Alta Ribagorça) and Guixers-Valls (Solsonès), and -5°C in Sant Pau de Segúries (Ripollès) and Puigcerdà (Cerdanya). Generally, clear skies will prevail today, with some low clouds appearing near the coast, which will dissipate around midday. The tramontana and mistral winds will blow in the morning, but by midday they will have less intensity and will eventually disappear. The sea will be rough north of Cape Begur, with a heavy swell. Along the rest of the coast there will be moderate to slight swells, with a slight swell in the afternoon.

Forecast for Monday afternoon

Tuesday: New front and cold weather

The weather will continue to change throughout the week, with new Atlantic fronts bringing varying amounts of precipitation, especially in the Pyrenees, with more snow at mid and high elevations. Tuesday will be overcast again, with a new front bringing scattered, light showers and minimal rainfall to the western Pyrenees and the foothills. Snow is expected again in the northernmost Pyrenees of Lleida province above 1,300 meters. On Wednesday, the sky will clear again, with more fog in the western Pyrenees and the foothills of the foothills. On Thursday, thin clouds will increase, with the arrival of a new front towards the evening and into the early hours of Friday, which could bring showers to more areas.

Temperatures will fluctuate, but will remain consistently above or slightly below average. Between Tuesday and Thursday, it will be colder, with frost inland and in the Pyrenees, where a temperature inversion will bring midwinter-like temperatures early in the morning (minimums in the Pyrenean valleys will be around -5°C). Cold conditions are expected during the early morning hours in the rest of the country (minimums inland will be 0°C and on the coast 6°C).
