BarcelonaWe're leaving behind a weekend that began with a peak of warmth, but ended with a clear cool-off and some local showers in parts of Girona and Barcelona yesterday. In fact, there was still a very scattered downpour tonight in Barcelona and nearby coastal areas, leaving up to 12 l/m² in the Raval neighborhood. But after yesterday's change in the weather, what we're noticing most this morning is much cooler or colder, depending on the area. It's important to bundle up early in the morning, but we should dress in layers, because midday will be warm or mild. A marked temperature contrast between day and night will be accompanied by generally calm and sunny weather. The situation could change from midweek onwards, when some precipitation could occur.

Forecast map for Monday morning.

Monday: calm, cold morning and bright midday

We woke up to a marked drop in temperatures. The atmosphere is very cool along the coast and pre-coastal areas, and cold in mountain areas and much of the inland regions. Minimum temperatures have ranged between 11 and 16°C on the coast, 7 to 13°C on the pre-coastal areas, 5 to 10°C inland, and lower in mountainous areas, with some local frosts, such as the -2.5°C minimum in Das (Cerdanya) or -1°C. But be careful today with the marked temperature contrast, as midday will be warmer, with many highs of 20 to 25°C. Dressing in layers is recommended.

The week begins with fairly stable and calm weather, with no risk of precipitation, but still with some coastal cloud cover on the central coast that will eventually disappear. A very calm and sunny day to take advantage of, with some harmless afternoon clouds inland northeast. The northerly wind will weaken at both ends, although a moderate tramontana wind will remain in Empordà throughout the day. The mistral will finally move completely to the Ebro in the afternoon. However, rain is possible in coastal areas of Valencia and Alicante, where rainfall could occasionally exceed 15 or 20 l/m².

Tuesday: sun and rising temperatures

Tomorrow, we'll notice the temperature rise even more, reaching around 26 or 28°C in the West and inland parts of the Ebro Valley, with a moderate but more noticeable warmth. The sun will remain dominant almost everywhere, although there will be cloudy patches in the southern half that will tend to disappear as the hours pass.

Possible rain during the second half of the week

Maps indicate that atmospheric instability could become evident again between Thursday and Friday, when an increased risk of precipitation and a possible episode of rain are expected, again widespread and abundant in some regions, especially in the Ebro and the Valencian Community. The situation is still uncertain with a few days remaining, so it will be necessary to monitor it closely.
