BarcelonaThe calm of the last few days will continue over the weekend, as we find ourselves under the effects of the Azores high. However, tails of very worn-out fronts associated with powerful and distant Atlantic storms will continue to arrive, causing small changes. For example, on the night from Saturday to Sunday, some showers will fall between the Costa Brava and the Barcelona coastline, as well as on the north face of the Pyrenees. For the rest of the day, variability will dominate, with a cooler atmosphere, while on Sunday, the sun and tranquility will prevail everywhere and the atmosphere will be milder. In short, typical autumn weather awaits us, with Atlantic dynamics and ups and downs in the thermometers.

Forecast map for this Saturday.

Saturday: small changes

During the evening and night of Friday and the early hours of Saturday morning, precipitation will fall on the north face of the Pyrenees, with a snow level that may drop to 1,800 m. But above all, some local downpours will occur between the regions of Girona and the coast of Barcelona, as well as in Mallorca and Menorca. In principle, it will not be much, but some local heavy downpour cannot be ruled out, which is why Meteocat has activated a yellow warning for locally intense rain at dawn in La Selva, El Maresme, and Barcelonès.

However, Saturday will be a calm day overall, with a cloudy or variable sky due to the presence of high and mid-level clouds, as well as some afternoon cloudiness in the northeast which, locally, may leave some weak and isolated showers. The mistral and tramontane wind will decrease throughout the day in the Ebro region and the north of Alt Empordà, and will end up disappearing by the evening. Lower temperatures, with cold nights and cooler conditions in the middle of the day. Many highs of 16°C to 21°C are expected.

Sunday: calm and rising temperatures

Sun and calm will dominate the last day of the weekend and the first day of the new winter time. Let us remember that at 03:00 a.m. we will have to set the clock back one hour, and it will be 02:00 a.m. again. A pleasant day to take advantage of, with only some decorative brushstrokes of thin clouds and some morning fog. From the evening on, some light precipitation may arrive on the north face of the Pyrenees, without further consequences.

All this with temperatures that will rise further. An atmosphere that will be milder in the middle of the day, with many highs of 17 °C to 23 °C, locally higher in the Ebro valley. Next week will begin with a warm spike, but by mid-week the thermometer will drop again, with values quite normal for the dates. This year it seems that the 'castanyada' will be cool or cold as it should be, something that had not happened for years.
