BarcelonaThe weather will remain calm and dominated by high pressure. This weekend has been mild, with highs reaching 20°C in Girona and Vall d'en Bas yesterday, for example. Temperatures generally ranged between 16°C and 18°C, with a warm feel due to the increasing intensity of solar radiation at this time of year. The anticyclone will settle in for the next few days, bringing sunshine, morning fog, and a marked temperature contrast between the cool mornings and the pre-spring-like warmth we'll experience at midday – the temperature difference could exceed 20°C. Therefore, the longest period of stable weather so far this year begins, following two consecutive months of storms and fronts that have brought rain, snow, and exceptional winds. In fact, since January 1st we've had ten storms, and since the start of the season – September 1st – we've had sixteen, extraordinary figures.

Weather forecast for Sunday morning, the 22nd.

Sunday: Spring tasting

The calm weather will continue today. It will be mostly sunny with some morning fog, although there will also be some thin bands of clouds. At most, a few isolated low clouds may appear along coastal areas early in the morning and late in the evening due to the contrast between the cold sea water and the milder air temperature. As for the temperature, the thermometers will rise slightly. On the one hand, overnight lows soared in the high mountains, causing a marked temperature inversion, meaning it was colder at night and in the morning at lower elevations than at higher elevations (in Das, temperatures dropped to -3°C and in Tossa de Alp, to 2,500 meters). Meanwhile, highs will also rise, and the overall weather will be spring-like. Many highs are expected to reach between 17°C and 22°C, or even higher in the south of the country. For example, in the Terres de l'Ebre region, they could reach 23°C or 24°C. On the coast, however, temperatures will be somewhat moderated—around 19°C—by the influence of the sea, which is still cold at this time of year.

Weather forecast for Sunday afternoon, the 22nd.

The stable weather will continue for much of next week, with very mild afternoons, sunshine, morning fog, and a marked temperature contrast between the moderate cold in the early hours and the pleasant weather at midday. Temperature inversions will recur, with nighttime lows falling below -2°C in the valleys and remaining above 2,000 m above sea level above 3°C or 4°C. The sea will remain calm, with a receding tide – lower than normal sea level – due to high pressure.

No significant changes or rain are expected, nor are any winter cold snaps. In any case, from Thursday onwards, some moisture moving in from the Mediterranean will generate some coastal cloud cover, but this will not bring any changes to the weather.
