BarcelonaThe weather has continued to be unstable on the central coast, with a few showers that have been a nuisance, especially for those looking to enjoy outdoor activities. The 35 l/m (8.5 US gal/mi) rainfall is notable, for example.2 of El Prat de Llobregat and the 8 l/m2 Barcelona (University Zone). This has been a very localized instability, associated with traces of cold air at altitude and humid winds at the surface.

In the rest of the country, the sun has dominated and the atmosphere has been very mild, as evidenced by the 26ºC recorded in Ponent and other areas of the pre-coastal and Costa Daurada regions.

However, calm will prevail for a few hours and will not fully establish itself. Between Sunday night and Monday, a worn-out Atlantic front will cross us, bringing many clouds and new showers. Changeable weather with temperatures without major variations, waiting for a brief summer next week.

Forecast for Sunday morning, the 19th

Sunday: a forehead worn by a gusty wind

This Sunday will repeat a similar pattern to Saturday, but with some nuances. Some local showers may hit stretches of the coast early in the morning, especially in the central part of the country. Unlike recent days, rain is unlikely to occur in the afternoon, but cloud cover will increase throughout the day from west to east due to the approach of a weakened Atlantic front. In the morning, the clouds will be high and thin, and in the afternoon, they will thicken, with the possibility of the first prefrontal showers along the pre-coastal or coastal areas. The first showers may reach the Pyrenees and the Lleida Pre-Pyrenees in the late afternoon. In short, a fairly calm and enjoyable day, with changeable skies and many fogs or low clouds in the morning.

Forecast for Sunday afternoon, the 19th

As for temperatures, they will rise in northeast Catalonia due to the warm southerly wind, and on the coast and pre-coast of Valencia, but will drop slightly in the Pyrenees and the Lleida Pre-Pyrenees. In the rest of the regions, temperatures will remain similar to Saturday's. Many highs of 19 to 24°C are expected, but they will be somewhat higher in the Alt Empordà and in the traditionally warmer areas of the south of the country, where they could reach 27°C.

Small change of weather to start the week

The tail end of the Atlantic front will finally cross our path on Monday, bringing variability and the risk of some scattered, weak showers, especially in the northern and western half. Rain will affect much of the country in the early hours and will continue to fall throughout Monday morning. Light rainfall overall, but with slightly more precipitation in the Pyrenees and the Lleida Pre-Pyrenees. The anticyclone will completely leave the British Isles, and low pressure areas will once again circulate across central Europe, a more Atlantic-like pattern that will bring little rain to our country. However, we will expect changeable skies and a clear rise in temperatures. Next week we will have a mild summer with warm middays, but it looks like it will be short-lived, as temperatures are expected to return to normal by the end of the week.

Showers from Friday and Saturday

At the start of the weekend, we've been keeping an eye on the skies, as there have been very irregular showers in parts of the coast, the pre-coast, and nearby areas, such as Central Catalonia and the northeastern interior. In some cases, between Friday and Saturday, more than 20 or 30 l/m² fell in a short period of time, but these were localized, and just a few kilometers away, virtually no rain fell. In Castelldefels, between 33 and 57 l/m² fell on Friday, 32 in Gavà, and 31 in Castellar del Vallès. Also notable were 28 l/m² in Sant Climent de Llobregat, 28 in Caldes de Montbui, 26 in Cornudella de Montsant, 23 in Piera, and 23 in Piera. This heavy rainfall in a short period of time caused some local incidents, such as a vehicle swept away by the River Ripoll (with no one inside), which suddenly rose.

This Saturday new downpours have suddenly fallen in Barcelonès and Baix Llobregat, where 35 l/m have accumulated in a short time2 in El Prat de Llobregat.
