Investigate the death of a 2-year-old girl who they allegedly forgot in a car in A Coruña
The main hypothesis is that the child's father got distracted and thought he had taken the minor to the nursery
BarcelonaThe Civil Guard has opened an investigation into the death of a two-year-old girl in the Galician municipality of Brión, in A Coruña, inside the family car. Initial police information suggests that the father, after a distraction, got out of the vehicle and went to work and, therefore, forgot the child inside. The alarm was raised when the mother went to pick up the girl from nursery school at three in the afternoon and was told she had not attended.
According to investigation sources speaking to Efe, the man dropped off the girl's older brother at school early on Wednesday morning, received a phone call, and got distracted from the route he usually took to the municipal nursery school. Thus, he would have driven directly to work, in the basement of the family home, without realizing that his two-year-old daughter was still in the back seats.
The high temperatures recorded in Galicia, dehydration, and the hours spent in the vehicle would have been decisive for this tragedy. Although the girl was taken to the continuous care point in Bertamiráns – the closest to the scene of the events –, she was already in a very serious condition and ended up losing her life. The Psychological Intervention Group for Catastrophes and Emergencies is in charge of assisting the girl's relatives, as reported by 112.
