Lying down until tonight in some places, and heat at bay for several days
Temperatures will drop even further on Tuesday, with few highs above 30°C and comfortable nights.

BarcelonaTemperatures have dropped significantly in recent hours. Last night was more comfortable, and highs were reasonable for the time. Only 35°C was reached in the warmest areas of the south and west. The thermometer could drop even further this Tuesday in some regions. The heat will remain at bay for a few days, with very breathable weather and cool nights in much of the country. Until tonight, there will still be some showers and irregular thunderstorms in parts of the northeast, along the Barcelona coast and pre-coast, and on the Costa Daurada. Locally, some storms could be strong, and the weather will not be completely clear in the coming days. And beware of the mistral wind, which will strengthen overnight with strong gusts on the Ebro River, which could complicate the work to extinguish the severe storm. Paüls fire, in Baix Ebre.
Night and early morning: some showers and thunderstorms
Showers will continue to fall overnight and early in the morning, with occasional thunderstorms. They will affect parts of the northeast of the country, the Barcelona coast and pre-coast, and the Costa Daurada. Some storms could be strong and bring sudden downpours lasting only a few minutes. Caution is especially needed due to the risk of sudden flooding of some streams. Meteocat has issued a warning for heavy rain in these areas. Elsewhere, calm weather will prevail, with cool nighttime winds and northerly winds in the far corners of the country.
Tuesday: the temperature drops further
After a generally cool night and mild near the sea, maximum temperatures will drop slightly further, especially along the coast and pre-coastline of Barcelona and Tarragona. The mercury will remain unchanged elsewhere, or slightly rise along the Costa Brava, where the Tramuntana wind will blow throughout the day. The mistral wind will eventually disappear over the Ebro River starting around midday. Many highs will hover between 26 and 31°C, slightly higher in the West and southern inland regions, and lower in mountain areas.
All this with some instability still present. Cloudy periods will persist throughout the day along the Costa Daurada, the coast and pre-coastline of Barcelona, southern Cota Brava, and the Balearic Islands, although we cannot rule out the occasional shower in the morning. In the afternoon, stormy clouds will also develop in the northeast, with the risk of some weak, local showers, especially in the eastern Pyrenees. Little, waiting for showers and storms to reappear between the Costa Daurada and Barcelona at night or early in the morning.
No new heat in sight
Temperatures will remain in check until Wednesday or Thursday. While it appears they will rise and become warmer in the days ahead, no hot weather or heat waves are in sight for now. The instability won't go away completely, and some weather models even indicate we could see a flurry of showers and thunderstorms this weekend due to a buildup of cold air. This information remains to be confirmed.
