A front passed through in the early morning, bringing cooler weather.
Temperatures will drop significantly next week
BarcelonaThe passage of a new cold front during the early hours will bring rain, generally light. However, as it approaches the coastal and pre-coastal areas, it could intensify and produce some heavier showers. The clouds will move away quickly this Sunday morning, leaving only slightly overcast skies in the Pyrenees and on the Costa Brava. With the passage of this last front, the air will begin to cool, but we will still see normal temperatures for this time of year. This will not be the case next week, when an incursion of cold air will bring the thermometer down to its lowest point, with conditions more typical of winter between Thursday and Saturday. This would be the first intense cold spell of autumn, especially in the Pyrenees.
Sunday: Cloudy in the Pyrenees and some showers in the northeast
Some showers are still expected until the early hours, with the possibility of some heavy downpours between the southern Costa Brava and the central coast. In fact, Meteocat has issued a warning for heavy rain during the early morning (more than 20 l/m²).2 in 30 minutes).
By early Sunday morning, the rain will have cleared, leaving a sunny day with thin, high-altitude clouds across most areas. However, with the arrival of cold air aloft, cloud cover will return during the afternoon, bringing scattered showers to parts of the Pyrenees, Pre-Pyrenees, and northeast.
The snow level will descend to 2,000 m as temperatures drop. Maximum temperatures will generally fall, especially in the northeast, with a more moderate warming effect. The highest values will not exceed 21 °C. Minimum temperatures will be recorded in many cases late in the day.
Westerly and southerly winds will blow along the coast, and there will be some moderate gusts of mistral in the Ebro region during the morning.
Winter tasting next week
Next week will begin with cooler temperatures. On Monday, northerly winds will arrive, bringing snow to the northern slopes of the Pyrenees and some afternoon showers in the northeast. The snow level will drop from 2,000 meters to 1,600 meters by the end of the day. All eyes are on the middle and end of the week, as weather maps indicate that temperatures will fall significantly, potentially bringing early winter conditions with below-average values. In fact, by Friday, minimum temperatures in the Pyrenees will be around 8 degrees Celsius lower than current levels, with intense frosts in the high mountains (dropping to -7°C in the valleys). The coldest polar air mass will affect central and northern Europe, bringing midwinter-like temperatures. We'll need to start switching out our wardrobes and getting our warm jackets ready!
