Brief pullback of downpours tomorrow: where will it rain in the coming days?
Showers will be more localized on Wednesday, but instability will remain all week
BarcelonaShowers and thunderstorms have once again fallen very irregularly in various regions this Tuesday, but where they have appeared, they have left downpours and hailstorms that have momentarily left everything well whitened, as now in the city of Terrassa. The downpours have been very irregular, and the most notable ones have mainly affected areas of the pre-coastal region, the Ebro, Central Catalonia, and the northeast. In some cases, more than 15 or 20 l/m² have fallen in a few minutes, and the 23 l/m² in Rellinars (Vallès Occidental) or the 21 in Montserrat have stood out. Where it has rained heavily, the mercury has plummeted suddenly.
Until the early hours of the night, showers will still fall in some areas, especially in the regions of Barcelona and Girona, where they will eventually move away. Some local downpours can still occur, which is why Meteocat maintains alerts activated for intense rain that could leave more than 20 l/m² in just half an hour, both today and tomorrow.
A very changeable, totally spring-like weather, which will remain in the coming days, although with nuances. On Wednesday, instability will temporarily decrease, with more localized afternoon showers in parts of the Pyrenees, in the north of the Girona regions and in the Ports area, with more sun and calm in the rest. But from Thursday onwards, showers and thunderstorms will regain ground, and the meteorological movement will continue for the rest of the week. All this with temperatures that will remain well under control.
Wednesday: less drizzle
This Wednesday we will wake up again with a rather cold atmosphere and clear skies, although with a lot of fog and some low morning clouds, especially in inland plains and hollows. The Tramontana and Mistral wind will blow temporarily in the early hours in the Ebro and in the north of Alt Empordà. From mid-morning and midday, cloudiness will grow, leaving new afternoon showers and thunderstorms, but much more localized. They will be concentrated mainly in parts of the Pyrenees, in the north of the comarcas of Girona, in the Ports area, in the comarcas of Castelló and on the island of Mallorca.
In the rest of the territories, calm will prevail, with more sun than clouds. Minimum temperatures will drop a little further, and will again go below 10 °C in much of the pre-coastal areas and inland, with some light frosts at high altitudes in the Pyrenees. Maximum temperatures will remain similar and normal for the dates, with many values between 17 and 23 °C.
New spring showers
On Thursday, instability will increase again, and showers and thunderstorms will regain ground in a very irregular way. They will mainly affect areas in the south, the pre-coastal regions, the interior, and the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees. And this changing and unsettled situation will also continue on Friday and the weekend, with a very irregular distribution of rainfall.
Therefore, there is no clear end in sight to this crazy and very varied weather typical of May, as pockets of cold air at high altitudes will continue to arrive, guaranteeing the growth of powerful afternoon clouds. Thermometers will undergo few changes and will be kept in check, with a generally cool to mild atmosphere.
