BarcelonaThe absolute calm of the Easter holidays has continued this Tuesday, with general sunshine and a warm midday atmosphere that has left highs of up to 27 ºC in Ponent. Temperatures that are high for the season, which are still expected to peak in the coming days, when the first 30 ºC of the year could be reached inland. Values clearly above the usual for this time of year and more typical of late spring or early summer. All of this is the result of a low-pressure system located between the southwestern Iberian Peninsula and the Canary Islands, which, with its counterclockwise rotation, will drive warm winds from North Africa towards home, as well as an incursion of Saharan dust in suspension.

Forecast map for this Wednesday morning.

Wednesday: hotter

Temperatures will rise more this Wednesday, both minimum and maximum. Very moderate cold or cool in the early hours, and warm atmosphere at midday, with many highs from 24 ºC to 28 ºC, although locally 30 ºC will be reached in the south and in Poniente. Thermometers more restrained on the coast due to the regulating effect of a still quite cold sea. The contrast between the cool sea water and the environmental mildness will favor the appearance of some fogs or low clouds in coastal stretches.

Beyond these nuances on the coast, the sun will dominate in the whole country, with only some bands of high, thin clouds. Suspended dust will increase, which will favor the increase of haze.

Heat peak in the coming days

Between Thursday and Saturday, the heat peak will arrive, with temperatures that will still soar higher. Most values will range between 25 ºC and 30 ºC in the pre-coastal and inland areas, which will likely lead to the first 30 ºC of this year being reached in our region. If this happens, this value will be reached almost a month earlier than last year.

A very warm atmosphere for the dates, which will place thermometers up to ten degrees above the usual average for this time of year in some areas, especially in the Pyrenees. The irruption of African dust in suspension will reach its peak at the end of the week. It will be then when the weather will begin to change.

With current maps, between Sunday and Monday, a cold air mass would arrive, causing precipitation everywhere and a clear cooling. We will have to keep confirming this, as there are still days until it arrives.
