In a project like the supplement Tarragona countryside There's always an initial spark. In this case, it was Albert Solé, a friend, a fellow traveler from university, and at that time, head of the Society section of the newspaper, who suggested the possibility of following Girona's example and creating a supplement that, from the central pages of ARA, would cover the regions of southern Catalonia. My good friend Josep Escaño and I took the plunge, and in December 2015, the first issue of ARA was published. Tarragona countryside

In that inaugural issue, we were already joined by two photojournalists who, ten years later, are still with us. Tjerk van der Meulen has illustrated reports and interviews with his photographs, and Carles Esporrín has reflected on an image in the Contrast section, a task that has earned him two nominations for the Mañé and Flaquer Journalism Prize. Also part of that initial core team was Ruth Troyano, with the section Tierra –No Sueños– (Land –Not Dreams–), in which she has explored not only the winemaking richness of our region but has also broadened the focus to the entire primary sector, revealing talent and wisdom.

Alfons González Bondia had an opinion column in that founding issue. Later, Marta Magrinyà took over, and Francesc Xavier Grau joined the team. We have also enjoyed the reflections of Laia Batlle, Moisés Peñalver, and Lourdes Meroño. Damià Amorós has also joined the bandwagon, revealing Tarragona's rich heritage with his unmistakable style, as has Faro, with his cartoon. So much silly inkalways sharp. And I can't forget the key figure in recent years, Jordi Mumbrú, a great colleague and a born journalist who has given the supplement a huge boost. Nor can I forget the team in the Barcelona newsroom who are by our side month after month.

It's been a ten-year journey with a great team. I want to take this opportunity to thank them for their excellent work. They have been essential in explaining our region to the entire country through the pages of the Tarragona countryside.
