The World Championship leader crashed while leading the sprint at the San Marino Grand Prix.

BarcelonaThe years go by and the relationship between Marc Márquez and Valentino Rossi remains tense. Although The Doctor It's been four years since he left MotoGP. Thus, every visit by the rider to the Misano Circuit, located 50 kilometers from Urbino, Rossi's birthplace, is like visiting the enemy's home. The Italian has been present at the circuit, and even crossed paths with Márquez in the pit lane shortly before the start of the race during the sprint, but they didn't see eye to eye. In retrospect, it was a bad omen of what would later come: Marc crashing while leading the race in the sprint at the San Marino Grand Prix.
This tense atmosphere didn't seem to bother Márquez in the first part of the race. The World Championship leader made a brilliant start, moving from fourth to second after overtaking Fabio Quartararo and his brother Àlex, and was even close to taking the lead. But that role went to local Marco Bezzecchi, who maintained his position with the pole positionThe Aprilia rider pushed hard, and Marc struggled to keep up.
But it's hard to keep up with Marc for long, and Bezzecchi started to overbrake, a mistake the Cervera rider capitalized on to close in and overtake him with seven laps remaining. Once he reached his natural first position, the race seemed over. That's when Marc suffered the same fate as his brother Àlex at the Catalunya Grand Prix: crashing when everything was in his favor. Part of the home crowd enthusiastically celebrated Marc's crash, which left him unharmed.
Thus, Bezzecchi regained first place, and Alex Márquez, who climbed from third to second, never put his victory in jeopardy. One of Valentino Rossi's team riders, Fabio Di Giannantonio, took third place on the podium. With this result, Àlex could only take nine points off Marc in the sprint race. Marc will therefore have a chance of winning the MotoGP title in two weeks at the Japanese Grand Prix.
