The former Barça player who wants to end sexism in e-sports

Olga García leads a pioneering project that seeks to professionalize female talent in competitive video games.

BarcelonaAfter more than 22 years of experience in professional football with clubs such as Barça, Atlético de Madrid, Levante and DUX Logroño, Olga García seeks to revolutionize the world of e-sports. With the support of DUX and Visa, the former international footballer leads De Pro a Pro, a pioneering project that aims to professionalize female talent in competitive video games.

"Women's football is growing by leaps and bounds and there is more and more visibility. Therefore, it is an ideal time to try to emphasize that girls can also play in the world of gaming, and that it is not an exclusively male world," says the player, who was a Barça player for thirteen seasons. "FC Barcelona is the club that shaped me as a person and a professional. I arrived when I was 11 years old, I was a girl who would never have imagined living so many wonderful moments and going through all the lower categories until reaching the elite. I didn't think that I would fulfill all my dreams at the club of my life."

García created the first academy ofe-sports in the world exclusively for girls, with all the resources of an elite environment. Graduated in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences (CAFE) from Blanquerna-Universitat Ramon Llull, the former player is clear about her path. "I want to be a reference in the e-sports", she repeats naturally. Her hobby began to develop on the car journeys to La Masia. Her father drove and she played on the PlayStation.

The former Dosrius footballer is an ambassador for EA Sports. "The girl who played for hours in front of the screen, today. Dreams, when pursued with passion, come true," says García, who collaborated on the design of FC26, the most popular football simulation video game on the market.

A great track record

Her trophy cabinet includes three league titles and four editions of the Queen's Cup. The Catalan, who is also a level 1 and level 2 coach, has become a collaborator of the Everything revolves (Catalonia Radio). He is also a regular analyst on theEleven (Deporte3) and satisfy the urge with Ultimate Móstoles (Queens League).
