BarcelonaJenni Hermoso and Montse Tomé are at odds. The Spanish international has responded harshly to the statements made by Spanish national team coach Montse Tomé on SER radio in which she stated that the Mexican club Tigres player "was angry and should know how to manage it" due to her absence from the Euro Cup squad: "The truth is that I am also very aware of my sweetheart and even more so when... Manage? This is what others should learn to do, this part is too big for them," Hermoso responded to X.

"I am writing a tweet because it is the only way I have left to maintain a "conversation" that focuses on making Spain European champions, although also the national team after being world champions, at which point she ended up at the center of a huge controversy because the then president of the Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, kissed her without permission during the celebrations.

This isn't the first time Jenni Hermoso has used social media to express her dissatisfaction with the national team. Just three weeks ago, she also posted on X with a message once her absence from Spain's Nations League matches became known. "Tired of hearing my name among so much falsehood. Saying things head on and how they really are shouldn't be so difficult. There's no need to beat around the bush when you can just go straight to the point," wrote the Madrid forward.

Tomé's words

Montse Tomé spoke on SER radio after announcing the squad for the European Championship, which does not include Jenni Hermoso. "Jenni Hermoso's case is special. I know that the RFEF has been in contact. I passed on the information, and since our president wants to promote and work on women's football, luckily I have other people above me who can do this task, and I've done my job from a sporting perspective. I think she's angry."

The player returned to the national team briefly in 2023, but has recently been withdrawn from the squad list, coinciding with the legal case against Rubiales. The National Court sentenced the former president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation to an 18-month fine for kissing the footballer. Rubiales also had to pay a €20 daily fine for sexual assault, totaling €10,800. It wasn't the ruling Jenni Hermoso had hoped for, as she was entitled to €3,000 in compensation from Rubiales. The footballer decided to appeal.
