Bad Saturday for Marc Márquez in Great Britain

BarcelonaThe Silverstone circuit has not been a good place for Marc Márquez. At least in this Saturday's short race, in which the reigning world champion could only scrape a ninth place. The race was won by Jorge Martín, who extended his lead at the top of the championship, while Márquez, with a single point in his saddlebag, lost a position and is now fourth.

The practice sessions had already shown that the British Grand Prix would be a difficult undertaking for Marc Márquez. Sixth on the starting grid, at no point during the long race did he give the impression of having the rhythm to aspire to victory. He could hold his own with the leaders, but his Ducati ran out of rear tire and little by little he lost positions. In the end, he scraped a small point, thanks to finishing ninth, but it doesn't sweeten the bad feelings he had throughout the weekend. On Sunday, in the long race, something more than a miracle will be needed to aspire to the podium, although the elder Márquez is already used to great surprises.

The triumph went to an undisputed Jorge Martín, who dominated the race with an iron fist. The championship leader, with 220 points, increased his lead over Ai Ogura (203), second this Saturday, and also over Marco Bezzecchi (193), who completed the podium. In fact, Bezzecchi overtook Márquez (191) in the standings.

The race served to demonstrate that, apart from the riders, the Aprilia bikes adapt much better to the British track than the rest of the brands. An advantage they will try to confirm this Sunday (2 PM, DAZN).
