Two eleven-year-old twin brothers found dead in the Ter river, in Manlleu

BarcelonaThe Mossos d'Esquadra have found the bodies of two eleven-year-old children lifeless in the Ter river, in Manlleu. As reported by El Caso and confirmed by police sources to ARA, this Monday a family alerted the police that their two eleven-year-old twin sons had gone to play football and by one in the morning they had not yet returned home. The same sources detail that the twins used to always go to play football on a sports court near home and returned around nine in the evening, but yesterday morning they had not yet returned and the local police were alerted.

The municipal force alerted the Mossos and together they launched a search operation with drones and the underwater unit. After hours of searching, this midday they found two bodies that match the description they had of the two minors. In fact, around 11:30 am the Catalan police found the twins' clothes in the river and then the two bodies, an hour apart.

Now the victims will be transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences of Catalonia to identify them and perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The Catalan police have opened an investigation to clarify the facts, but they are working with the hypothesis that they died by accidental drowning. The area of the river where the two minors were allegedly found is a place where, according to residents, people usually bathe.

Municipal condolence

From the Manlleu City Council, a statement has been issued expressing condolences to the family and friends for the loss. The council has made itself available to the family "for anything they may need" and has asked citizens for "respect, discretion, and sensitivity." It also urges not to spread "unverified information" and to preserve the family's privacy in such delicate moments. For this Wednesday, a minute of silence has been called in front of the City Council building at 8 p.m. and two days of mourning have been decreed, during which flags will fly at half-mast as a sign of mourning. For their part, the president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, has stated that he feels "shocked" by the tragedy and, in a message on network X, has sent warmth and condolences to the families and friends of the two children "in these very difficult times."
