They are looking for a sixteen-year-old teenager missing at sea off the coast of Roses
The emergency services have already extended the search to Torroella de Montgrí
BarcelonaEmergency teams have been searching since Wednesday night for a minor under sixteen who disappeared at sea in Roses, in L'Alt Empordà, aboard a jet ski. They are searching by land, sea, and air in a operation that includes the Bombers de la Generalitat, the Mossos d'Esquadra, the Agents Rurals, Salvament Marítim, the Red Cross, and the Guardia Civil, which is in charge of the investigation.
The search has now been extended to Torroella de Montgrí. The Deputy Inspector of Bombers and intervention chief of the operation, Pol Artau, explained that they have conducted a simulation and that it indicates that the marine currents and the wind blowing could have pushed him southwards and towards some point on the coast.
According to sources from the Bombers, the boy went out on the jet ski with a group of two other boys and a monitor from the rental company. Due to circumstances that are being investigated, the young man did not return with the rest of the group to Sant Margarida as planned. According to Artau, the last time he was seen was between the mouth and the port of Roses.
Salvament Marítim has specified that he was with the rest of the group at the height of L'Almadrava and Canyelles, and the last place he was seen was in the area of the Trinitat castle. The family, who have traveled to the area, states that the boy disappeared long before the alert was given to the emergency teams, around half past eight in the evening.
Without "indications"
For the moment, no signs have appeared, nor the jet ski with which the boy was traveling. Artau explained that there are dozens of officers mobilized by land, sea, and air. The hypothesis they are working with is that the currents and the wind blowing in the area could have dragged him to the area of L'Escala and Torroella de Montgrí.
The Maritime Rescue simulator has concluded that the drift could have taken it to this area and pushed it towards the coast. Efforts are now focused on combing this entire area. "The search is quite extensive," admitted the deputy inspector. "For now, we want to rule out all the areas we have marked as probable and then we will make new hypotheses," he insisted. Emergency personnel have established a coordination point at the port of Roses from where the operations are being organized.
