BarcelonaThe Catalan Health Service (CatSalut) has purchased the Dos de Maig Hospital and the Sagrada Família Primary Care Center (CAP) from the Red Cross. Josep Quitet, president of the Regional Committee of the Red Cross in Catalonia, and Alfredo García, director of CatSalut, signed the contract for the purchase and sale of both healthcare facilities this Monday. The CAP includes the adult mental health center (CMSA), pediatric care, and facilities adjacent to the center located in the center of Barcelona.

According to the Department of Health, the agreement is part of CatSalut's desire to "preserve and consolidate public ownership of essential healthcare facilities" and to "guarantee continuity of care in the areas where the Red Cross has historically played a key role in providing services."

In total, the Generalitat will allocate 36 million euros for the health complex and the underground parking, which are located between Dos de Maig and Córcega streets in the Catalan capital, according to what has been announced. The VanguardThe government authorized the purchase last June to "guarantee the continuity and improvement of healthcare services" in the Barcelona Dreta Comprehensive Health Area, one of the most densely populated areas of the city.
