The anesthesiologist at the dental clinic in Alzira where a 6-year-old girl died after treatment has been arrested.

The man is accused of the crimes of manslaughter, bodily harm, endangering public health, and failure to provide assistance.

The National Police arrested the anesthesiologist from the private dental clinic in Alzira on Wednesday morning. The girl died three weeks ago, hours after being seen at a private dentist where she was sedated to relax while having some baby teeth extracted and fillings done. A few days later it was learned that The clinic was not authorized to administer sedation in a general way.The Valencian Ministry of Health specified that the authorization for this dental clinic was "as a dental clinic with dentistry and stomatology activity" and that it could administer local anesthetics, but not intravenous sedation, which is what they did with the girl, who ended up dying after ingestion. Another 4-year-old girl who was also treated that day at the dental clinic had to be admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Hospital Clínic of Valencia due to an episode of fever, vomiting, and drowsiness. The little girl was hospitalized until this Tuesday, when, 12 days after admission, she was discharged.
