BarcelonaService on the R3 commuter line was restored early Friday afternoon after an incident disrupted service between La Garriga and Puigcerdà for three hours. However, delays continue, as trains remain stopped and "will gradually resume normal service frequencies" as the situation returns to normal, according to Adif's social media accounts. The cause was a broken fiber optic cable, which damaged the signaling and communication system on another morning of railway chaos.

The work carried out by Renfe and Adif has gradually allowed traffic to resume after it was halted at 1:20 p.m. Trains initially resumed running from the start of the line (L'Hospitalet) to La Garriga, and finally, at 4:15 p.m., service was restored across the entire line. However, due to the incident, passengers have had to be evacuated from the carriages of the stopped trains.

The incident occurred in facilities on the section between Montcada-Ripollet and Puigcerdà (Cerdanya). Throughout the disruption, Renfe recommended alternative transport, such as the R2 for travel to Granollers and Mollet del Vallès, or buses.
