Mossos seize the mobile of Jonathan Andic, investigated for the death of his father
The police are emptying the phone to find evidence of a possible homicide
Plot twist in the Andic case. Nine months have passed since Mango owner Isak Andic died at the age of 71 while hiking in the Salnitre caves in Collbató, accompanied by his eldest son, Jonathan Andic. Despite the passing months, the judicial investigation into the case has not concluded, to the point that Jonathan Andic is now considered a suspect in his father's death. This was recently decided by the head of investigating court number 5 of Martorell, which is handling the case, after analyzing various pieces of evidence provided by the investigation of the Mossos d'Esquadra.
The investigation, however, is not over. In fact, it is at a key moment. As the ARA has learned, a few days ago, Mossos investigators, with a court order, seized Jonathan Andic's personal mobile phone. The Catalan police are now in the process of emptying the phone of Mango's founder's eldest son to search for possible evidence. This analysis could take several weeks. From this phone, the police hope to extract conclusive evidence to clarify the events.
Previously, the emptying of Isak Andic's phone has been key to reaching this point. Also, his son's at times contradictory attitude has raised suspicions among investigators. Above all, the statements were at times confusing. And another element that the judge has considered suspicious: Jonathan Andic changed his mobile phone shortly after his father's death. All this has led to that judicial plot twist.
Initially, the main hypothesis of the Mossos was that Isak Andic's death was accidental, and he fell to his death from a height of about 150 meters, a fall that caused his death. In fact, the Martorell court itselfdecreed the provisional closure of the case in mid-January because it saw no indication of a crime. But it finally reopened. The research
The investigation has evolved over the months and the police have found possible evidence that could point to a criminal death. Everything has led to judicially identifying Jonathan Andic as a suspect, also to be able to carry out investigative measures such as requisitioning his mobile phone to empty it with judicial authorization. The Mossos analyzed the conflicts the now suspect had with his father, as well as the economic benefits that could derive from his transfer. At the time of his death, the founder of Mango, a hiking enthusiast, was alone with his son in the Salnitre caves. Initially, the reconstruction of events on the mountain found no suspicious elements, but Andic's behavior and statements have caused the investigation to be prolonged. In fact, far from being over, it is now reaching its definitive moment.
Isak Andic was, until his death, the richest man in Catalonia and the fifth largest fortune in Spain, with a fortune of 4.5 billion euros, according to the latest report by Forbes magazine; a fortune that increased by 66% in the last year. Andic had had three children with his first wife, Neus Raig: the aforementioned Jonathan, Judith, and Sarah. His current partner was Estefanía Knuth.
