Man shot on a Barcelona terrace on Tuesday dies in hospital

BarcelonaThe man shot last Tuesday in broad daylight on a terrace in the Sant Martí district of Barcelona has died this Sunday afternoon in the hospital, as ARA has been able to learn. The victim, 44 years old, was seriously injured after receiving several bullet impacts to the neck, arms, and abdomen, as well as several stab wounds. Finally, six days later, he died in the hospital center.

The victim was on the terrace of a bar in the Sant Martí district with his wife and son, who was resting in a stroller. It was four in the afternoon and some men – the Mossos d'Esquadra are looking for three – approached and opened fire indiscriminately towards him. After the shots, they also attacked him with a knife in the neck area. The man lay on the ground, under a pool of blood. The attackers fled on foot in the direction of the sea. Due to the method of attack, the Catalan police investigated it as an execution from the outset. This is a type of aggression very common in the world of drug mafias. The objective is always to end the life of a member of a rival clan.

The victim's identity is further reinforcing this hypothesis: it would be Krsto Vujic, a man linked to the Skaljari clan, a feared mafia from Montenegro. For some time, the authorities of this country had been looking for him for drug trafficking. He was hiding in a luxury apartment overlooking the sea, directly opposite the bar, on Passeig Taulat in the city, where he was shot. He had several high-value items and luxury cars.

Open war

The Skaljari clan would not be understood without another clan from Montenegro, that of Kavac. They have been facing each other for over a decade, a narco war that has spread throughout Europe and that is also fully affecting Catalonia. In December of last year, they shot a man dead in the middle of the street in Castelldefels. He was also related to the Skaljari clan.

Also last July, a man was shot dead in Consell de Cent street in Barcelona. Who was the perpetrator? It is not yet known. And the victim? A man linked to the Kavac clan. A week later, not far from there, in Comte d'Urgell street, a man was shot several times. Again, it is not known who the perpetrator was. The victim was Predrag Vujosevic – known by the name of Marko–, a historic leader of the gang specialized in jewelry robberies, The Pink Panther. Precisely, this man was arrested in 2021 for being part of the Skaljari clan. It is now being investigated whether this last shooting, which has already cost a life, is also part of this open war.
