A group of young people beats up an Arab man at some festivities in Valencia

The Civil Guard is investigating a possible racist assault on a man by a large group of youths in the Valencian town of Tavernes de la Valldigna. The events took place this weekend, during the town's festivities, as confirmed by sources from the armed institution. The agents have a video showing the entire scene. This, which has gone viral on social media due to its chilling images, will help them identify the participants in the assault and proceed with their arrest.
The video shows a first assault with a glass object: the man, on the ground, receives a hard blow to the head by one of the attackers. Subsequently, the victim receives numerous punches and kicks to the body and head by more people, some with a very young appearance who could even be minors.
Other young people, while witnessing the events, shout and some ask them to stop the attack. The man tries to leave, but is assaulted again further down the same street while receiving racist insults and being urged to be attacked. The local police have confirmed to EFE that the victim is of Arab origin.
The City Council of Tavernes de la Valldigna, in view of the dissemination of the video in which the "physical assault and conduct with possible racist or xenophobic connotations" is clearly seen, has expressed its "firmest" condemnation of "any form of violence, racism or xenophobia", as stated in a statement on its social networks.
"Tavernes is a diverse, welcoming and plural town, where families of different backgrounds live together normally. A coexistence built over many years thanks also to the work of a rich associative and volunteer fabric", indicates the council.
With the available information, the City Council underlines that it is an "isolated incident that does not represent the coexistence or the values" of the town, and points out that they will continue to collaborate with the security forces and bodies and will act, within their powers, with "all the necessary firmness".
